BHS Exam Training and Assessment Days/Weeks

If you are building up to taking BHS exams or apply for a college course, we can put together an intense training day or week working towards this. Sophie holds the BHSII (Complete Stage 4, Intermediate Teach and Stage 5 Stable Managers ) and trains her apprentices to BHSAI, she is also soon to take the rest of her BHSI Stage 5.

We also have visiting BHSI and FBHS trainers with many years of examining experience who can assess your competence.

We can even offer you accommodation for the week in our farmhouse B&B or we can find you more basic/low cost accommodation in neighbouring villages.

Paid Employment: Cheston Farm EC Apprenticeship Scheme

We offer an excellent hands-on and practical opportunity to work, earn a wage, train and learn on our 1 to 2 year apprenticeship scheme.

Apprentices ride regularly whether it’s a hack, lunge, schooling or lessons – sometimes several times a day. They learn on the job with the benefit of gaining experience with a real employer!

Almost entirely non-classroom based, the apprenticeship involves lots of time outdoors, working with livery or centre horses! Those apprentices who show the aptitude and skill are encouraged in to taking the BHS exams (fees paid) which have an international reputation of excellence. You may be offered opportunities to learn to lead the team, manage the yard, lead hacks, teach lessons and/or co-ordinate our Pony Club. Those who excel will be offered a second year to work towards BHS Stage 3 and/or BHSPT (BHSAI).

We also offer the option to take Work Based Learning qualifications (the old NVQ) with our links to training providers such as Summerhouse or local Colleges.

Application:

You will need to phone to discuss our next recruitment date and email your CV. Applicants are expected to be young, under 11st and already basically competent and confident riders. We will send you more information including contractual terms and conditions.
